Gestalt workshops and groups

Themed workshops are run in Redhill, Surrey, over weekends throughout the year.  These are suitable for trainee and qualified therapists, counsellors, coaches, organisational consultants, facilitators, trainers, managers and senior executives.  Participation in the workshops can lead to a qualification in Gestalt Practice.  For details see here.

Once a month, a day-long Gestalt group is held on a Saturday.  Designed to enhance awareness and support personal and professional development, this group is open to all.  For those new to Gestalt, it's an excellent introduction to this way of working.  More information can be found here.

To book a place on a weekend workshop or Gestalt group, or to enquire about personal therapy, coaching, supervision or organisational consultancy, please e-mail gestaltinaction@msn.com.

Style of approach

Gestalt is so much more than a therapeutic tool to help those experiencing difficulties in their personal life.  Gestalt’s championing of humanistic and Eastern values, coupled with its potential to conduct powerful phenomenological inquiry, has caused many of us to use it as a model for holistic education, personal development, research inquiry, organisational development, spiritual inquiry and much more.

I am committed to the development and education of the whole person – soma and soul.  I aim to empower individuals, groups and communities by working alongside them to identify strategies that honour their unique needs and visions.  My approach is to:

  • Explore through dialogue and experimentation… rather than teach

  • Look to the inter-relatedness of things… rather than isolate out facts

  • Raise awareness to the options… rather than provide readymade answers

Many have described my style as high in support and challenge, and laced with humour.  Clients are invited to attune to the here and now, and to focus upon what is foreground to awareness, reflect on current needs, explore support that might be required to meet these needs, and experiment with new ways of experiencing the world.

Please explore this website.  I offer one-to-one, couples and group therapy, plus a monthly Saturday group open to everyone where people come for quality feedback or to sample the flow of a Gestalt group.  I also offer a regular programme of workshops for personal and professional development, as well as supervise counsellors and psychotherapists, and academic studies up to doctorate level.  In addition, I coach, consult and deliver bespoke workshops within organisations.

Organisational clients have included:

The Merchant Group; Hendon Police Training College; Family Planning Association; GlaxoSmithKline; Tower Hamlets Social Services; St Luke’s Hospital; Gerrards; Senior Community Health Management, Kent; PricewaterhouseCoopers; The Roffey Park Institute; Ashridge; Unilever; BBC; Sussex Police College; The Benefits Agency; Diageo; Management Consultancy Business School; The Psychosynthesis Trust; Hammersmith & Fulham Area Health Authority; The Maudsley Hospital; Relate; The Findhorn Community; Southampton and Surrey Universities.

I have a PhD in Group Facilitation from the University of Surrey, an MSc in Management and Education from Edinburgh University, a BA in Social Sciences and the Arts from the Open University, and an Honorary Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy.

I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and also accredited by the European Association for Gestalt Therapy (EAGT) and United Kingdom Association for Gestalt Practitioners (UKAGP).

I teach Gestalt therapy and practice, group facilitation, clinical philosophy and research, counselling and organisational consultancy in university settings, and have researched and published widely on health, therapy and organisational change.

As a psychotherapist in private practice, I see individuals and couples and facilitate Gestalt therapy groups.  In addition, I supervise Gestalt, humanistic and psychodynamic therapists, as well as coaches and consultants.

I also offer a range of workshops suitable for trainee and qualified psychotherapists, counsellors, trainers, coaches and organisational consultants, and anyone interested in personal and professional development.
